My web desinger has abandoned me with half a website. Editing query?

You have to work on the files in a text editor - saving Word output as a web page will only work if the server is a Microsoft server, and the people using the site use IE as a browser. If you don't understand HTML (and maybe CSS and Javascript), check with your local high school. You;'d be surprised at how many high school kids today can develop pretty good sites. And a high school student would probably be glad to earn a little money (less than the "developer" who abandoned you) for what he or she whould consider to be fun.
