Who do you think is right in this situation?

(first off, i'm not so set on thinking i'm the correct one, i just want to know if anyone else thought what she did wasn't the wisest thing to do)well about a year ago, i met this girl named joi(pronounced joy) at my school. at first she seemed really nice(despite people saying she was really mean. but then i got to see her at her meanest), and we were beginning to become really great friends. but then one day during recess, i kicked a basketball and it accidentally hit her in the face. i didn't mean for it happen, i seriously didn't. but she got very mad and stormed over and started yelling at me. i was going to apologize but before i could she started to yell and scream at me. i just walked away because recess was over and i thought "oh well. that's why they call her mean." then it was time for lunch, and she sent her friend taylor to speak to me. taylor said that all she wants me to do is apologize. and i'm thinking, "what? i really shouldn't even say sorry after the way she treated me. she's the one who needs to apologize." then joi sent me an instant message on aim saying something like this,"please don't talk to me anymore." and some other stuff along those lines. and yeah. we haven't talked that much since then. only like one or twice if it was through somebody else. i sent her an instant message asking if she wanted to start over, cause i really don't want to have any enemies, but she's turned into one over time. but i don't know if she got it or something because she was offline at the time. sooo, any opinions? has anyone else been in a similar situation?
